Application & Operating Conditions
50 V Underground Longwall Mining Signal Cable is designed for intrinsically safe and low-voltage control, telemetry, methane/airflow monitoring, electrohydraulic roof-support shield interconnects, conveyor pull-cord lockout switches, and voice/audio paging lines along underground longwall faces and gate roads. Chemically cross-linked, non-chlorinated flame-retardant polyolefin core insulation prevents conductor pinch-through under falling coal/rock, while the extra-tough thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) jacket outlasts conventional PVC or rubber control cables by 3× to 5× in abrasive pan-line service.
Longwall Roof-Support & E-Stop Lines
Connects shield controller pods, solenoid valves, conveyor pull-key lockout switches, and face communication boxes across dynamic advancing longwall panels.
XL-FR Polyolefin + Extra-Tough TPU
Thermosetting non-chlorinated cross-linked polyolefin resists soldering/crush deformation, paired with high-tear-strength TPU in black or high-visibility safety orange.
Optional Full Copper Braid Shielding
Available with a full-coverage flexible copper wire braid beneath the TPU jacket for EMI immunity alongside high-horsepower shearer and VFD power cables.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Answers to longwall electrical questions on non-chlorinated cross-linked polyolefin insulation, orange vs. black TPU, and braided EMI shielding.
Why does TEBAOFLEX use chemically cross-linked non-chlorinated FR polyolefin instead of PVC on the signal cores?
Cross-linked thermosetting polyolefin will not melt or cold-flow when pinched under roof-shield hydraulic hoses or hot overloads (+90°C continuous rating), and its non-chlorinated formulation reduces corrosive acid gas release in confined underground workings.
When should we choose 14–10 AWG versus 18–16 AWG in a 50V longwall signal cable?
18 AWG and 16 AWG are ideal for short shield-to-shield jumper harnesses, pull-cord switches, and digital RS-485/CAN telemetry; 14 AWG, 12 AWG, and 10 AWG minimize DC voltage drop across 250 m to 450 m full-face solenoid power buses and paging trunk lines.
Can we order high-visibility safety orange TPU with MSHA-compliant flame resistance?
Yes. Both standard Black TPU and high-visibility Safety Orange TPU outer jackets are compounded with flame-retardant mining-grade polyurethane elastomers and can be custom-printed with sequential footage markers.
