Application & Operating Conditions
2000 V Symmetrical 3+3+GC Mining VFD Power Cable is purpose-engineered for variable-frequency AC motor drives on underground longwall shearers, armored face conveyors, continuous haulage systems, mine hoist/slurry pump skids, and surface excavator/crusher VFDs. Splitting the equipment ground into three equal green-insulated conductors arranged at 120-degree intervals inside a 100% foil-plus-copper-braid shield balances phase-to-ground capacitance, suppresses reflected voltage spikes, and diverts destructive bearing currents away from mine motor shafts while maintaining continuous MSHA ground-check loop monitoring.
Balanced 3+3 Low-Impedance Ground Return
Three symmetrically phased green-insulated tinned copper grounds cancel electromagnetic field imbalance and provide a low-inductance return path for high-dV/dt IGBT switching currents.
100% Foil + Tinned Braid EMC Containment
Combination aluminum/polyester tape (high-frequency MHz containment) and heavy tinned copper braid (low-frequency kHz drain & mechanical flex durability) prevents PLC and gas-sensor interference.
Monitored Ground-Check (Center or Interstice)
Includes a yellow-insulated flexible tinned copper ground-check conductor (14 AWG minimum in interstice, or neutral-axis center GC configuration) compatible with standard mine ground-fault relays.
Why Standard Asymmetric Type SHD-GC Can Trip VFD Drives: Conventional two-ground trailing cables have unequal phase-to-ground capacitance across the three phases, driving zero-sequence common-mode currents into motor bearings. Use Symmetrical 3+3+GC VFD Cable between IGBT inverter cabinets and AC mine motors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Engineering FAQs on 3+3+GC VFD grounding termination, corona resistance, and ground-check placement.
How should the overall foil/braid shield and three green ground wires be terminated at VFD cabinets and motors?
Terminate the overall tinned copper braid 360 degrees at both the inverter enclosure and motor terminal box using EMC compression glands, and bond all three symmetrical green ground conductors equally onto the ground bus at both ends to preserve balanced low-impedance high-frequency return.
Why is Type II EPDM rubber preferred over PVC/nylon (THHN) in 2000V mining VFD cables?
Type II EPDM (EPR) exhibits a low dielectric constant (~2.8–3.2 vs. 6–8 for PVC) and superior corona/partial-discharge inception voltage, dramatically cutting capacitive charging spikes on long motor feeder runs while retaining full cold-weather flexibility.
Can this 2000V VFD cable be built with a neutral-axis Center Ground-Check (CGC)?
Yes. We supply both center-positioned yellow ground-check builds (ideal for dynamic cable-handler chains and reels) and interstitial ground-check builds (14 AWG minimum) to match your mine coupler pinout.
