Yellow elastomer vertical reeling cable is a 0.6/1 kV family for cranes whose cable hangs and travels between a reel and a moving spreader or tender. Standard and reinforced builds share the basic application but not an identical material stack or range of dimensions. This page keeps their specifications separate so an engineer can compare the route, core schedule and optional optical-fibre element without treating unlike variants as one cable.
Choose the right vertical-reel construction
| Reference variant | Core structure and sheath | Use in selection |
|---|---|---|
| Standard yellow elastomer | Class 6 bare-copper cores with cross-linked elastomer insulation and sheathing; central aramid support and aramid torsion braid | A defined elastomeric build for vertical reels and spreader systems. |
| Reinforced yellow elastomer | Very fine bare-copper cores, specialty technopolymer insulation, reinforced central support, elastomeric inner/outer sheaths and embedded anti-torsion braid | Additional build choices and a distinct environmental operating range. |
| Reinforced with optical fibres | Reinforced copper-core design combined with optical-fibre elements | Power/control and data paths in one engineered vertical-reel assembly. |
Both principal constructions have a 0.6/1 kV nominal rating and a documented 90°C maximum conductor temperature. The standard reference gives -40°C to +80°C ambient for fixed and moving use. The reinforced reference gives -40°C to +80°C fixed and -20°C to +80°C in operation. Do not transfer one variant’s temperature range, insulation material or dimensions to the other.
Standard elastomer vertical-reeling sizes
The standard construction lists a fixed-installation bending radius of 4 × cable outside diameter and a moving-application radius of 8 × diameter. These are reference design values; confirm reel and guide hardware against the chosen production drawing.
| Reference core configuration | Approx. outside diameter, mm | Approx. weight, kg/km | Reference tensile load, N |
|---|---|---|---|
| 37 × 2.5 mm² | 33 | 1,850 | 4,700 |
| Grouped 2.5 mm² cores | 49 | 3,530 | 6,600 |
| 56 × 2.5 mm² | 40.5 | 2,550 | 6,600 |
Reinforced vertical-reeling sizes
These reference dimensions describe the reinforced construction only. The grouped 42-core arrangement has its own core geometry; use the exact wiring and grouping diagram when specifying it.
| Reference core configuration | Outside diameter, mm min–max | Approx. weight, kg/km |
|---|---|---|
| 48 × 1 mm² | 35–38 | 1,600 |
| 18 × 2.5 mm² | 22–26 | 1,100 |
| 24 × 2.5 mm² | 26.4–29.4 | 1,400 |
| 30 × 2.5 mm² | 30.2–33.2 | 1,500 |
| 37 × 2.5 mm² | 30.2–33 | 1,850 |
| 42 × 2.5 mm² grouped | 37.8–41.8 | 2,280 |
| 44 × 2.5 mm² | 32.5–35.5 | 1,950 |
| 56 × 2.5 mm² | 39–43 | 2,500 |
| 37 × 3.3 mm² | 37–40 | 2,200 |
| 42 × 3.3 mm² | 41–44 | 2,450 |
Reinforced copper-and-fibre options
The documented fibre variants combine 24–48 copper conductors with optical elements. The reference notes options for 6–24 optical fibres and several fibre types, but fibre count, optical specification, attenuation and termination should be confirmed separately on the project drawing.
| Reference copper cores plus optical element | Outside diameter, mm min–max | Approx. weight, kg/km |
|---|---|---|
| 24 × 2.5 mm² + optical fibres | 31.8–34.8 | 1,600 |
| 30 × 2.5 mm² + optical fibres | 34.7–38.5 | 2,080 |
| 36 × 2.5 mm² + optical fibres | 37.8–41.8 | 2,280 |
| 48 × 2.5 mm² + optical fibres | 43.8–47.8 | 2,800 |
Application and installation boundaries
A vertical-reel cable may serve container-crane spreaders, tender systems and related moving port equipment. The reel diameter, descent length, cable mass, maximum travel, torsion, guide rollers and strain relief determine whether a candidate build is appropriate. Published reference travel-speed and tensile figures are not adopted here as universal TEBAOFLEX ratings; request project-specific confirmation. Neither the standard nor reinforced data alone establish suitability for permanent immersion, explosive atmospheres or an unspecified oil/chemical exposure.

Illustrations show a representative cable construction and application, not an approved production drawing or a documented customer installation. Final dimensions and performance must be confirmed for the ordered build.
Information for a build review
Send the crane or spreader model, electrical and data circuit schedule, number of copper cores, fibre requirements, reel drawing, suspended length, operating temperature, travel conditions, terminal details and quantity. TEBAOFLEX can review marking, yellow shade, packing and construction options. A conventional rubber heavy-duty reeling cable may be appropriate for a different mechanical route; see the port, crane and festoon cable range for alternatives.
Frequently asked questions
Can the standard and reinforced tables be combined into one size list?
No. They use different insulation, reinforcement and dimensional references.
Does the fibre-optic option include a fixed fibre count?
No. State the required fibre count and type and request a drawing for the integrated cable.
What must be checked beyond voltage?
The hanging length, reel geometry, travel, torsion, tensile load, termination and ambient conditions all affect selection.
