UL 1659 PTFE Wire & Cable Overview
UL 1659 PTFE 250°C 600V high temperature wire and cable is a product family for protected internal equipment wiring where a compact fluoropolymer insulation system and nickel-plated copper conductors are required. The range includes single-conductor PTFE hook-up wire and multi-conductor cable with PTFE insulated cores and a silicone outer sheath. It gives engineers a clear route to specify either individual conductors or an assembled high-temperature cable.
TEBAOFLEX reviews the requested AWG size, conductor count, colour, marking, operating temperature and installation conditions before confirming the final construction. Values on this page are product selection data; the ordered build should be matched to the requirements of the finished equipment.

Single-Conductor PTFE High Temperature Hook-Up Wire
The single-conductor UL 1659 PTFE wire uses a soft-annealed nickel-plated copper conductor and PTFE insulation. It is a practical option for high temperature hook-up wire, appliance wire, electronic wiring and space-limited control assemblies. The standard reference range is 24 AWG to 10 AWG, with a nominal 0.020 in (0.5 mm) PTFE insulation wall. A range of insulation colours can be specified for equipment identification.
| AWG | Conductor stranding | Nominal insulation | Nominal O.D. | Approx. weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 24 | 19/36 | 0.020 in / 0.5 mm | 0.068 in / 1.7 mm | 4 lb/1k ft / 7 kg/km |
| 22 | 19/34 | 0.020 in / 0.5 mm | 0.074 in / 1.9 mm | 6 lb/1k ft / 9 kg/km |
| 20 | 19/32 | 0.020 in / 0.5 mm | 0.083 in / 2.1 mm | 8 lb/1k ft / 12 kg/km |
| 18 | 19/30 | 0.020 in / 0.5 mm | 0.093 in / 2.4 mm | 11 lb/1k ft / 16 kg/km |
| 16 | 19/29 | 0.020 in / 0.5 mm | 0.099 in / 2.5 mm | 13 lb/1k ft / 19 kg/km |
| 14 | 19/27 | 0.020 in / 0.5 mm | 0.111 in / 2.8 mm | 18 lb/1k ft / 26 kg/km |
| 12 | 19/25 | 0.020 in / 0.5 mm | 0.130 in / 3.3 mm | 26 lb/1k ft / 39 kg/km |
| 10 | 37/26 | 0.020 in / 0.5 mm | 0.154 in / 3.9 mm | 38 lb/1k ft / 56 kg/km |
Multi-Conductor PTFE Core Silicone Sheathed Cable
The multi-conductor option combines PTFE insulated nickel-plated copper cores with a silicone outer sheath. This PTFE silicone cable construction has a 250°C core temperature rating and a 200°C outer-sheath rating, so cable selection must always follow the lower applicable temperature limit at the sheath. It is intended for high temperature control cable routing and protected internal equipment connections where several conductors are needed in one round cable.
| Configuration | Conductor stranding | Core position | Shape | Nominal O.D. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 × 18 AWG | 19 × 0.254 mm | Parallel | Round | Ø 5.9 mm |
| 3 × 18 AWG | 19 × 0.254 mm | Twisted | Round | Ø 6.2 mm |
Transparent, black and white are available reference sheath colours. Other AWG sizes, core counts, colours, printed marking and outer diameters can be reviewed against the application. Where a three-core cable includes a grounding conductor, its insulation and identification arrangement must be specified before production.
Applications and Selection Limits
Typical applications include protected internal wiring in electronic equipment, household and commercial appliances, industrial instruments, temperature-resistant control assemblies, power equipment and other devices with elevated internal temperatures. PTFE insulation can help when a thin-wall, high-temperature wire is needed, while the silicone-sheathed multi-conductor option helps keep several circuits together during equipment assembly.
This product is intended for equipment wiring. It is not a general statement of suitability for building wire, direct burial, unrestricted outdoor exposure or every oil, chemical and mechanical environment. Confirm the finished-equipment standard, terminal temperature, bend condition, mechanical protection and compatibility with fluids used in the application.
How to Specify UL 1659 Wire or Cable
For an accurate quotation and construction review, provide the required option (single-conductor wire or multi-conductor cable), AWG, conductor count, insulation and sheath colour, marking, reel length, quantity, circuit voltage, maximum operating temperature and end-use equipment. Include a drawing, existing marking or required outside diameter when replacing a current wire or cable.

UL 1659 PTFE Wire FAQ
What is UL 1659 wire?
UL 1659 wire is a high-temperature PTFE insulated wire construction used for protected internal equipment wiring. This TEBAOFLEX product family offers single-conductor and multi-conductor configuration options.
What is the difference between the single and multi-conductor options?
The single-conductor version is a PTFE insulated hook-up wire. The multi-conductor version places PTFE insulated cores inside a silicone outer sheath, whose temperature rating is 200°C.
Can I request a custom colour or marking?
Yes. Provide the required colour, identification marking, reel length and quantity with your inquiry. Availability is confirmed for the requested build.
Can I use this cable for every high-temperature installation?
No. The selected construction must be assessed against the equipment standard, operating temperature, terminals, mechanical protection and actual environment.
