Application & Operating Conditions
Type W Round 2000 V portable power cable is engineered for heavy-duty surface and underground mining machinery, mobile dewatering pumps, blast-hole drills, portable crushers, conveyors, AC shuttle cars, and industrial generator/shore-power drops where unshielded insulated conductors are specified without bare interstitial ground wires. In 4-conductor builds, the fourth green-insulated full-size core frequently serves as a dedicated insulated equipment ground alongside three phase conductors.
Mine Dewatering Pumps & Drills
Moisture- and ozone-resistant 90°C EPR insulation paired with a reinforced thermosetting CPE sheath withstands standing sump water, mud, oil, and rocky pit dragging.
3-Core vs. 4-Core Circuit Flexibility
Choose 3/C for ungrounded delta feeds or external ground circuits, or 4/C (Black, White, Red, Green) to carry three phases plus a full-gauge insulated green ground.
Optional Night-Visibility Luminous Sheath
Available in standard extra-heavy-duty black CPE, colored CPE/CSP/PCP compounds, or photo-luminescent / high-visibility finish for dark underground headings and night pits.
Need Monitored Ground-Check or Flat Reel Geometry? If your mine load center requires a ground-check pilot loop, select Type G-GC Round 2kV; for low-seam level-wind shuttle-car reels, see Type W Flat 2kV.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Engineering FAQs on Type W vs. SOOW, 4-core grounding, and 2,000 V voltage rating.
How does Type W Round 2kV differ from standard 600V SOOW portable cord?
Type W is built to ICEA S-75-381 mining standards with rope-lay tinned copper, heavy 60–80 mil 90°C EPR insulation rated up to 2,000 V, and a two-layer yarn-reinforced mold-cured CPE jacket—providing vastly higher crush, cut-through, oil, and submerged abrasion survival than 600 V commercial SOOW cord.
Does Type W Round contain bare interstitial ground wires?
No. By ICEA S-75-381 definition, Type W contains insulated conductors only (no bare interstitial ground or GC wires). When equipment grounding is required without a pilot monitor wire, buyers typically specify 4-Conductor Type W and assign the green-insulated conductor as the equipment ground.
Can Type W Round 4/C be supplied with a luminous high-visibility outer jacket?
Yes. Both 3-core and 4-core Type W Round cables can be vulcanized with our luminous / high-visibility outer jacket compound to reduce run-over incidents in dark underground drifts and night-shift surface operations.
