Screened PUR Underwater Control Cable | TEBAOFLEX

Screened PUR underwater control cable for subsea control, sensor and instrumentation assemblies. TEBAOFLEX can manufacture 3-, 7- and 21-core configurations with stranded tinned-copper conductors, PP or Tefzel insulation, aluminum/polyester foil shielding, a tinned-copper drain wire and a black PUR outer jacket. Reference configurations cover 300 V and 600 V designs with nominal diameters from 6.58 mm to 14.70 mm. Share the required core count, conductor size, water depth, cable length, termination and operating conditions for engineering review and quotation.

The screened PUR underwater control cable is a configurable low-voltage control and instrumentation cable for subsea assemblies where compact multi-core construction and an overall foil screen are required. Reference designs cover 3-, 7- and 21-core layouts, 300 V or 600 V operating voltage, and conductor sizes from 0.50 mm² to 5.20 mm². TEBAOFLEX reviews the complete installation before confirming the final construction, including water depth, pressure, cable length, termination method, bend requirement and whether the cable is static or moving.

Product Overview

This cable family combines stranded tinned-copper conductors, application-specific PP or Tefzel core insulation, an overall aluminum/polyester foil screen, a tinned-copper drain wire and a black polyurethane outer jacket. The screen and drain wire provide a defined termination path for interference control, while fillers and binders maintain a stable round profile.

The product is intended for engineered subsea control, sensor and instrumentation assemblies. It is not automatically a complete pressure-rated connector system: connector compatibility, moulding, water blocking, hydrostatic pressure and depth rating must be confirmed for each project.

Cable Construction

  • Conductors: stranded tinned copper in verified reference sizes from 0.50 mm² to 5.20 mm².
  • Core insulation: polypropylene for the 3-core and 21-core references; Tefzel for the 7-core reference.
  • Fillers and binder: used as required to maintain roundness; the 21-core reference includes three fillers and a clear polyester binder.
  • Overall screen: aluminum/polyester foil or aluminum/Mylar construction in contact with a tinned-copper drain wire.
  • Outer jacket: black polyurethane with nominal reference wall thicknesses from 1.27 mm to 1.70 mm.

Applications and Engineering Scope

Typical projects include low-voltage control and monitoring links for ROV equipment, subsea sensors, underwater instrumentation, marine test systems and connector or penetrator assemblies. The cable can also be reviewed as a custom lead for compact wet-environment equipment where a screened multi-core PUR construction is required.

Information Required for a Quote

Send TEBAOFLEX the following information so engineering can confirm conductor sizing, shield termination, jacket construction and manufacturing documentation:

  • required core count, conductor cross-section and operating voltage;
  • overall cable length and allowable outer diameter;
  • water depth, hydrostatic pressure and freshwater or seawater exposure;
  • static, flexing, tethered or reeled operating duty;
  • minimum bending radius and tensile load;
  • connector, penetrator, moulding or free-end termination requirements;
  • required standards, tests, inspection documents and cable marking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which conductor configurations are available?

The supplied reference range includes 3-core designs at 0.80 mm², 1.50 mm² and 5.20 mm², a 7-core design at 0.50 mm², and a 21-core design at 0.52 mm². TEBAOFLEX can review adjacent constructions after the electrical, dimensional and mechanical requirements are defined.

How should 300 V and 600 V options be selected?

Voltage selection must follow the complete circuit and system design rather than core count alone. Provide the working voltage, test requirement, conductor loading and applicable standard so TEBAOFLEX can confirm insulation thickness and the approved production construction.

Does the foil screen provide mechanical armour?

No. The aluminum/polyester foil screen and drain wire are included for electrical screening and termination. They do not replace tensile members or armour. If the cable will carry mechanical load or operate as a tether, the strength and armour requirements must be engineered separately.

Is a depth or pressure rating included?

No universal depth rating is claimed from the cable data alone. The cable, water blocking, moulded termination, connector and complete assembly must be evaluated together. State the required water depth and pressure during the quotation stage.
